I had never really thought of function as a form of beauty before but I think you are spot on. My experience of living in apartments/townhouses built by developers is that these places were so obviously lacking in anyone’s attention to detail to the daily practicalities of a home. Profit over literally everything else.
On another note, I absolutely love your stained glass window!!
We've experienced the same. Rentals made, or renovated, without humans in mind. Just vapid blueprints that tick off someone's abstract checklist of the very bare minimum that a home requires. And with seemingly no understanding of (or otherwise no care for) the fact that the quality of the materials and fittings actually has a deep impact on our quality of life!
And thank you- we love the stained glass too! Credit goes to our landlord for making meaningful and thoughtful design choices- one of the first rentals we can say this about!
Looking forward to the rest of this series!
